Bird-Like Rest Defaults

Bird/Parker defaults: humanized starts strongly favor beat 1, with lighter use of & of 1, beat 2, and beat 3. Internal rests are concentrated on beats 1, 2, and 3; offbeats are rare. Eighth and quarter rests dominate; half-note internal rests are rare. Checked + 100 returns to the corpus-based default.

Humanized Start Entry

These controls shape the Parker-style opening rest distribution when Start Beat is set to Humanize. Beat 1 is the strongest Bird default.

Internal Rest Start Beats

Parker defaults favor internal rests on beats 1, 2, and 3. Offbeat rests are available, but rare.

Internal Rest Lengths

Bird defaults strongly favor eighth and quarter rests. Half-note internal rests are intentionally rare.

Long Notes & Held Arrivals

Vary ingredient endings with held arrivals Works across compatible ingredients. Bird favors shorter holds; Trane weighting favors longer sustained notes. Following rests also require Humanize Rests. Authored rhythms stay intact.

Duration weights also affect the existing Long Notes ingredients. Arrival variations use quarters and offbeat dotted quarters. These are adjustable musical preferences informed by the research, not measured probabilities.

Advanced Use Humanized Start Distribution Favor Pickup-Friendly Openers Use Legacy Module Priors Favor Connected Phrase Pieces These are engine-level heuristics. Leave legacy priors off unless you are intentionally comparing against older generation behavior.

Start-Note Preference Locks

Checked families are filtered to preferred start degrees when matching preferred starts exist. Surrounds and enclosures are excluded because they already target later notes internally.
